@ charlesroper, thanks for the follow-up, I appreciate it. In doing some more digging into the editor, I see there's a fine line between the oss nature of the app and the payware nature of the app. An odd line for sure Smile

I did try Neal's solution, but it completely disabled smooth scrolling on my system for every app, which is a stop-gap for the editor, but takes away 'the pretty' for every other app. Not really a great trade off.

I'm a Windows developer myself, so when a decent Git client becomes available for Widows, I'm considering pitching in to fix this issue. Jay's suggestion here - www(dot)e-texteditor(dot)com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6753#6753- is right on the money, but I haven't examined the source yet to see if that's already implemented, or sorely needed.

re. a decent Git client, I use TortoiseGit daily and it works great for me. Worth checking out if you haven't already:

http://code.google.com/p/tortoisegit/

It integrates nicely with the E project pane, which is handy.

Note, though, it says this right down past all the screenshots:

Quote:
Install

Please install msysgit 1.6.1 or above before install tortoisegit http://code.google.com/p/msysgit

Note: Please choose add git path to windows command line

Would kind of make sense to put that at the top of the page. Rolling Eyes

The mouse wheel handling code in EditorCtrl.cpp:
http://github.com/etexteditor/e/blob/master/src/EditorCtrl.cpp#L7434
does not currently accumulate partial scrolls (as is recommended by MS:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms997498.aspx

As far as a decent Git client for Windows, well, I just use MsysGit on the command line through Console2, but that's just me.

Hi adamv, does this mean you'll be able to fix the bug? (I know you're not Alexander and just a friendly helper, much thanks.)

I use TortoiseSVN, and yes if I were to switch to git (I've thought about it) I would use TortoiseGit.

@mlepage - I don't have a mouse that reproduces the problem; I could add code to accumulate partial scrolls, but I don't have any way to test the fix myself, unfortunately.

If you want to add the code and prepare a build I can see if it fixes it on my end.

I've been using e for the last several years and this problem just showed up on my computer. Like others, I have to scroll the mouse wheel very fast to get it to move it While I was running WinXP 32bit, things functioned fine. However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 64bit, the mouse scroll no longer works with my wired mouse. However, it still works with my wireless mouse.

Scroll no longer works with Windows 7 64bit: Microsoft 3000 v1 mouse
Functions fine with Windows 7 64bit: Logitech v450 Nano mouse

Just to state it for the record, the scroll wheel on the MS 3000 mouse works as intended for all other applications in Windows 7 64bit, not just Microsoft applications (ie: MS Office 2007, Firefox, Visual Studio 2008, Skype, MapSource, iTunes, KeepPass Password Safe, Notepad, Adobe apps, and the list goes on)

Please do not reply back with mouse settings changes or a registry hack or this a problem with the OS. This is a mouse...which has been a standard part of computers for the last 25 years and other applications have managed to keep their scroll working through various mice vendors.

Best Regards

Just upgraded to Windows 7 Pro and e is the only program scrolling isn't working for. My mouse is Microsoft Comfort Optical 3000.

I have tried all solutions except for Neal's since I don't want to lose smooth scrolling (Why handicap lots of applications for one application).

It's a bug in E that they won't fix. I've switched back to Notepad++ in frustration. It's my biggest complaint. (Well, that and crashing and abysmal performance.)

I fixed this issue today. I just got used to scrolling not working for my mouse. Hopefully this will fix it for everyone else's too. And hopefully the change gets merged into the main release.
