We recommend submitting feature requests to our Uservoice page:
http://etexteditor.uservoice.com/
Please check there first before submitting a new feature request.
If you post a new idea to Uservoice, it's also worth mentioning it in this forum so that people know that it is there and can go and vote for it. You can also post feature request ideas in this forum for discussion before you post them onto Uservoice.
We also have a bug tracking system, where feature requests can be submitted, but we recommend you now use this only for submitting bugs.
For more information please refer to: Feature requests & bug reporting. |

I think the definition of a "general discussion" and an "official request" would help on the wiki page. At present I'm pretty confused. Is someone putting feature requests and bug reports placed on the forum into the tracker? Perhaps moderators and other forum regulars can point people in the direction of the tracker whenever they post a request or report to the forum?
The situation as it stands is actually a bigger drain on time and brainpower that when we just had the forum because of the need to track two different locations. I don't personally see the need for separate feature request and bug report forums now we have the tracker. Surely if there's a more general discussion to be had about a particular issue, the general discussion board should be used? If specific features or bugs need to be discussed, then the tracker has its own comments facility. Just renaming the two boards in question to Feature Discussion and Bug Discussion (with stickies to tell people what they're for) would make a difference I think. Sadly, the duality of the current situation is just too confusing and difficult to cope with (for me anyway) . |

| A case in point: I've got a feature request. Should I now post it to the forum or the tracker? What would make it "official" verses just "up for discussion"? Why not simply post it onto the tracker and discuss it there? |
