Hi Guys,

I'm back from a bit of vacationing with the family. This update primarily adds the option to compare entire folders. But there are also some important bugfixes and improved support for using xulrunner in web preview.
  • Added folder compare.

  • Fixed doc returning to disk state when reopening.

  • Fixed possible buffer overrun in utf8 conversion .

  • Fixed issue when reloading a deleted file .

  • Remember between sessions if xulrunner is enabled.

  • Improved xulrunner support in webpreview.
The latest release can be downloaded at:
http://e-texteditor.com/download/e_setup.exe

Must have been something weird in my Firefox, got the file down fine in Safari.

Sorry for the false alarm.

I knew it. You've been on holiday! You really should ask your customers' permission before taking a break because we get very anxious when we don't get our e fix. Wink

In all seriousness, it might be an idea if you're afk for a while (lord knows you deserve it), to post a little announcement on the forum beforehand to both keep the heat off you and help prevent the kind of worrying on the part of users that we've seen in here over the last week or so. Just a thought. The kind of negative comments that tend to flourish when you're not here for a while doesn't do e any favours and could easily be avoided with a bit of pre-planning. Smile

If anyone is wondering how to get XULRunner working, which gives you a Gecko - aka Firefox - rendering option in the web preview, this is how you do it:

1. Download the latest XULRunner runtime zip from here.

2. Extract the content to a folder called xr in your E installation folder. For example: C:\Program Files\e\xr\

3. Restart E, open web preview, check the Options box and you should get a drop-down at the bottom of the window offering IE or Gecko rendering.

Works for me if I manually enter the paths into each field and include a slash on the end. The Ok box is greyed if I don't include the slashes, though

Thank you thank you thank you for for the XUL/Gecko solution. It works great here. To those having difficulty, do not extract into the xulrunner folder ... do as charlesroper says and extract it into an xr folder for happiness.

You guys are the greatest!!! Very Happy Very Happy

Just noticed that the greyed out OK box in compare problem reported earlier in this thread is also happening for me with files. Folder compare seems to work fine.

thanks for the update.

the biggest problem for me is that since 1.0.38 i think, code folding for Actionscript (2 and 3) is not working at all, and this release hasnt fixed it. At first I thought it might have been a bundle issue, but another computer running e 1.0.35 with the latest AS bundles has no problems, wheras Im running 1.0.39 and the latest bundles and folding is broke.

Any chance this will be fixed soon? I use it a lot...

@matthewjumpsoffbuildings - Have you tried FlashDevelop? I find it's a much nicer editor for Actionscript, mainly because of the intellisense (where it auto completes methods and such), and it also exports to Flash. I use E for everything else though.

ye it looks pretty good, but i still would like to use E for as for now, it'd be nice if the folding worked...
